McGwire Hits Homer; A’s Win

SAN DIEGO — Mark McGwire hit his first home run in five interleague games as the Oakland Athletics defeated the San Diego Padres, 10-3, on Tuesday night.
McGwire led off the second inning with his 25th homer of the year, on a 1-and-1 pitch from Joey Hamilton.
Rafael Bournigal hit a three-run double in the eighth, Mark Bellhorn went three for four with three runs scored, Matt Stairs had three hits with two runs scored and Geronimo Berroa had 2 RBIs.
