Robertson Branch Library Opens New Chapter

It’s bigger, better and has more books.
The Robertson Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library officially opened Thursday in a space that’s twice the size of the old facility with almost double the number of books. The state-of-the-art structure houses 40,000 books and also features an electronic library with more than 500 computer databases.
The $3.3-million library is one of about 30 of the city’s 67 libraries that is being rebuilt with funds from a 1980 voter-approved bond. The old library, which was built in 1953, had become insufficient to meet patron needs.
Built with a nautical theme, the new two-story library at 1719 S. Robertson Blvd. features reading areas for children and adults and 11 online computer stations.
