The waning gibbous moon is only one-quarter degree (one-half moon-diameter from the planet Saturn on this coming Saturday morning, June 28. The two rise together at 1:30 a.m. and are visible in the east until dawn. This extraordinary sight will be visible to the unlaided eye, but binoculars will improve the view. Saturn’s large moon Titan shows up to the west of Saturn when viewed through a telescope.
