Undrafted Penberthy Plans Ahead

Mike Penberthy, a two-time NAIA All-American basketball player at The Master’s College, was not taken in Wednesday’s NBA draft in Charlotte, N.C.
But he is far from discouraged.
Penberthy expects to participate in free-agent camps in the next month or so, topped by a multi-team, 10-day camp in Salt Lake City late in July.
“I didn’t expect to get drafted so it wasn’t a big deal,” Penberthy said. “I was surprised by some of the picks and I thought some of them were real good picks, but I didn’t have any real feelings of excitement because I didn’t expect to be drafted.”
Penberthy, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound guard, averaged 27.5 points a game for Master’s last season.
