Parks to Address Residents’ Group

Bernard C. Parks, who is expected to be confirmed Tuesday as Los Angeles police chief, is scheduled to speak that same day to members of the Studio City Residents Assn.
Assn. President Tony Lucente said he hopes that Parks will outline his plans for the department during the meeting, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Carpenter Avenue School auditorium.
“We’re eager to learn what an expanded, friendlier and more community-focused LAPD means to Studio City,” Lucente said. “But beyond the issues and politics of the LAPD, we’re really interested to see the man behind the badge. This will be an important opportunity for people to see just who Chief Parks is.”
Parks, a 32-year LAPD veteran who had been deputy chief, was selected for the top post last week by Mayor Richard Riordan.
