Holocaust Rescuers, Survivors to Reunite
The National Council of Jewish Women announced Wednesday that it will host a Sept. 9 reunion of non-Jewish Holocaust rescuers with the people they saved.
The fund-raiser, to be held at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, will include a screening of a film about the rescues written by the late Rod Serling, creator of “The Twilight Zone.”
More than 13,000 non-Jews helped save Jews during the Holocaust, said council administrator Francine Marseille. Only about 10% of the rescuers still are living, she said.
The council is planning to fly in Alexander Roslan, an 89-year-old Florida resident who lost his son while trying to rescue three Jewish boys, getting two of them to safety, she said. The boys, now doctors in Tel Aviv, are scheduled to fly in for the reunion, she said.
Tickets and information: (213) 651-2930.
