IRS Office to Open Doors for Questions

The Van Nuys office of the Internal Revenue Service will answer questions about tax problems at a Problem Solving Day on Wednesday.
IRS workers will see taxpayers from 1 to 9 p.m. at the local office, 6230 Van Nuys Blvd.
Although walk-ins will be assisted during that time, officials suggest making appointments for faster service.
Individuals who are represented by a tax preparer or attorney may bring that representative along or may send him or her on their behalf, with legal proof of power of attorney, officials said.
The IRS office will schedule another day in January for the same purpose.
Rep. Howard L. Berman (D-Mission Hills), said he encourages taxpayers to take advantage of the opportunity.
“Anything the IRS can do to improve customer service is a step in the right direction,” he said.
