The Shape of the Holidays

Beyond the average cookie cutter, there are cookie molds and stamps. Wood-carved cookie molds are beautiful enough to work as art pieces on walls, and vintage ones are highly desired by collectors. One thing people forget is that they do more than look good: They make good-looking cookies. (See instructions on H14.)

Cookie stamps are a bit easier to work with and come in many holiday shapes: Gingerbread men are probably the most popular, a great way to make your mark on the holidays.

Pictured wood cookie molds $23 to $40 at Sur la Table, Pasadena. Single gingerbread men cookie stamp, $15 at most Williams-Sonoma stores.

Cookie Uniform

When a child learns to make cookies, there are privileges that go beyond being the official taster. There is also the wearing of the apron.

Child’s apron $27, adult version $29.95 at most Bristol Kitchens stores.
