A women’s shelter in Long Beach has received a $10,000 grant to continue its efforts at curbing domestic violence.
Womenshelter will use the grant from the Los Angeles Women’s Foundation to continue the domestic crisis intervention it does in collaboration with the Long Beach Police Department.
“Our goal is to provide the earliest intervention possible when the victim is the least likely to be in denial about the seriousness of the abuse,” said Executive Director Linda Berger.
The facility provides shelter for about 300 women and children a year and assists 1,200 women with outreach programs and counseling. The shelter’s hotline is (562) 437-4663.
