WASHINGTON — Graco Children’s Products has recalled about 564,000 infant carriers and carrier swing seats for repair, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Friday.
The company reported 45 injuries that resulted when children fell out of the carriers after their handles unlocked unexpectedly. The injuries included four skull fractures and two concussions, the commission said.
The carriers and carrier swing seats subject to the recall are model numbers 1300, 1301, 1310, 1350, 1501, 1502, 1530, 1723, 2788, 5510, 8108, and 36264. They were made between Aug. 1, 1993, and Aug. 31, 1997.
The carriers sold for about $30 and the carrier swing seats for about $100 at juvenile product and discount stores such as Toys R Us and Service Merchandise.
Consumers who own the products are advised to stop using them immediately and call Graco at (800) 281-3676 for a free repair kit that locks the handles in place.
