Los Alamitos Golfer Wins Junior Event

Breene Murphy of Los Alamitos High won the freshman division of the Junior Golf Winter Classic Monday at Skylinks in Long Beach.
Murphy shot two-over-par 74 and beat second-place Christopher Todd of Laguna Hills High by two strokes. Donald Rhee of El Toro won the junior division, shooting 75 and beating Fountain Valley’s Jeff Greenfield on the fourth playoff hole.
John Merrick, a sophomore from Long Beach Wilson, was the overall winner, shooting a two-under 70. Ryan Robertson, a Fountain Valley sophomore, shot an Orange County-low 73.
