Mourners Stage Candlelight Vigil on 1st Anniversary of JonBenet Ramsey’s Death

BOULDER, Colo. — About 60 people gathered Friday night for a candlelight vigil for JonBenet Ramsey, the 6-year-old beauty queen found slain in her home one year ago.
The crime, in which JonBenet was beaten and strangled, remains unsolved.
Authorities say her parents--who deny any involvement--are a focus of the investigation.
Police have been criticized for their handling of the case. The district attorney’s office has been accused of being overly protective of the Ramseys. John Ramsey was the head of a billion-dollar computer company when the killing occurred.
An elegant nightgown was draped over a lamppost that had an 8-by-10 photo of JonBenet, taken by vigil organizer Judith Phillips, a former family friend.
