Rebels Down Army Copter Carrying 24

Leftist rebels shot down a helicopter that was flying soldiers to the site of an oil pipeline attack, the army said. All 24 people on board were feared killed. The Russian-made MI-17 helicopter apparently caught fire in the air and exploded when it hit the ground about 220 miles northeast of the capital, Bogota, the army said, citing witnesses. Earlier, a dynamite attack on the nation’s largest oil pipeline caused a suspension in pumping.
