Historic Clubhouse Reopens on Catalina
The historic clubhouse known as the Catalina Country Club, next to the Catalina Island Visitors Golf Course, has reopened after five years.
Dating back to 1928, it was designed by the architects of the famous Casino building on the island and was once used as a club and locker room for the Chicago Cubs baseball team during spring training. In 1992, it was shut down for earthquake retrofitting and other work.
The renovated clubhouse includes a new restaurant, The Clubhouse Bar & Grille (tel. [310] 510-7404); expanded conference space; a ballroom; and a garden with a fountain. The building can be rented for private events; tel. (310) 510-7400.
