Midweek Temps Could Break Century Mark

After this weekend’s cooler than normal weather, the San Fernando Valley will be heating up as a strong high-pressure system moves into the region today, forecasters said.

“It looks hot,” said John Sherwin, a meteorologist with WeatherData, which provides forecasting information to the Times.

That high-pressure system will push away the marine layer that had been cooling the area for the past three days with low clouds and fog. The system will continue moving through the area until at least Friday, when the cooling effects of the marine layer will be able to return.

High temperatures will probably stay in the upper 80s today, but temperatures may climb into the upper 90s, possibly breaking the 100 mark, later in the week, Sherwin said.

Highs of 85 in Burbank and 90 in Woodland Hills are predicted for today.
