Two unidentified assailants shot a 22-year-old man in the Oakwood area of Venice on Tuesday morning while two other men remained hospitalized after being injured in a drive-by shooting in adjacent Mar Vista early Monday, police said.
The two incidents add to a recent rash of violence in Venice and Mar Vista, said Sgt. Lane Bragg of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Division anti-gang unit.
“Things are starting to heat up,” he said.
On Tuesday afternoon, police were still gathering details of the Oakwood shooting that occurred at 11:30 a.m. Police said two men in a car fired at the victim, who was injured in the right foot. He was treated at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital and released.
