Whieldon’s Touchdown Passes Lead Orange Lutheran

ONTARIO — Sophomore quarterback Jason Whieldon threw for 169 yards and three touchdowns to lead Orange Lutheran to a 28-14 victory over Ontario Christian in an Olympic League game Friday at Ontario Christian.
The Lancers had 290 yards in total offense and held Ontario Christian running back Ryan Fuqua to 99 yards rushing. Fuqua gained 208 yards last week against Calvary Chapel.
The game was scoreless when Tim Fleming recovered a Fuqua fumble at the Lancer 34-yard line. It led to a 40-yard touchdown pass from Whieldon to Fleming with less than seven minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Jeff Renevier returned a punt 50 yards for a touchdown, as the Lancers (6-1-1, 2-1) led, 14-0, at the end of the first quarter. On the next series, Whieldon threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Pat Sims, and the Lancers led, 21-0, at halftime.
Orange Lutheran drove 80 yards in 11 plays to start the second half with Whieldon capping the drive when he threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Fleming.
Ontario Christian (3-5, 2-1) scored early in the fourth quarter on a one-yard run by fullback Matt Bauer. Fuqua scored on a four-yard run with 1:48 left to cut the Lancer lead to 14 points.
Eric Lerch recovered an onside kick for the Lancers and they ran out the clock.
