PacBell Should Keep Books in Phone Booths

“PacBell Hikes Coin-Call Rate” [Oct. 18] states that these increases will probably take a month or more to implement. I’ve placed calls as early as Oct. 10 from various parts of Hollywood and West Hollywood and the 35-cent [requirement] for directory assistance had already been implemented.
Additionally, if PacBell wants 35 cents for directory assistance, then it should have books in the phone booths. If there are no phone books, then I don’t think there should be any charge for directory assistance. It’s robbery.
