GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Mater Dei (16-1, 9-0 in league), the top-ranked team in the Orange County, the Southern Section Division I-A and the state Division I polls, tries to finish the South Coast League season unbeaten tonight when it hosts San Clemente (7-7, 7-2). Amy DeCinces leads a high-powered attack for the Monarchs, who swept past the Tritons in three games in the first meeting.

Also tonight, second-ranked Fountain Valley (13-2, 8-1) plays at No. 10 Esperanza (8-5, 4-5) in the Sunset League. Another top-10 matchup in the Sea View League features No. 9 Corona del Mar (9-6, 6-3) at No. 7 Santa Margarita (12-3, 7-2).

Southern Section playoff pairings will be announced Sunday and first-round games are Tuesday.
