* Re “Building Blocks,” Nov. 16.
The real question left unposed by your article is, can we, as a people, begin to understand the incredible significance and profound nature of more than 5,000 acres of oak woodland and native grassland adjacent to the San Fernando Valley? Can we stand by and watch Home Savings of America bulldoze over 1,100 heritage oak trees and destroy 400 acres of native grassland? Can we witness this outmoded destruction in the name of somebody else’s greed, knowing we are destroying our children’s ecosystem, which is working to clean our air and water as we speak?
The real test of our time is whether we can come together as a people and save the last remnants of our natural heritage.
