Council Raises Salary for City Manager to $121,000

City Manager Tim Casey is getting a 5% raise, which will bring his base salary to about $121,000 a year.

The increase, the official’s first since 1994, was approved Monday by the City Council, which also agreed to allow another 5% in the budget for next year.

Casey also received an increase in his performance bonus, to $5,000 from $3,500. The city manager’s overall compensation package, including car and housing allowance, totals about $170,000 a year.

The raise was approved 4 to 1, with Councilman Eddie Rose dissenting. “It’s outrageous when a city manager makes $175,000, and nobody does anything about it,” Rose said. “Someone has to say enough is enough.”

Councilman Mark Goodman countered that Casey is one of the best city managers in the state and is worth the money. “The city is in great financial shape due to Tim’s experience,” Goodman said.
