Man Acquitted in Death of Athlete

A jury acquitted a Rockville, Md., man of manslaughter, vehicular homicide and drunk driving in the death of a masters triathlete killed while training for a 3,000-mile bicycle race. However, Ronald Rinehart, 38, was found guilty of lesser charges related to the accident that killed 57-year-old Judith Flannery of Chevy Chase. Rinehart’s 17-year-old son, Timothy, was driving when Flannery was struck. The elder Rinehart was considered responsible because his son had no license.
