Lonely Seniors Want Visitors for Christmas

For about 175 senior citizens who live in the Lake Forest Nursing Home, a personal visit from a volunteer would be one of the best holiday gifts of all.
“Some of our seniors are adjusting to many losses and we like to give them extra attention over the holidays,” said Shiffy Crane, director of activities and volunteers. “We don’t need contributions of food as much as for people to call and spend time with them.”
Even if time is short, those who want to help can send a Christmas card to someone in the nursing home and “sort of adopt a senior for the holiday season,” Crane said.
The program could also use volunteers to help organize activities, she said.
The Lake Forest Nursing Center is at 25652 Old Trabuco Road. Information: (714) 380-9380.
