High Schools Subject of District Study
The board of the Newport-Mesa Unified School District decided this week it would establish a secondary education task force to study ways to improve the high schools.
The public has presented many ideas to board members, including expanding the number of electives offered and building better athletic facilities. Recognizing it would be a lengthy project that would take many months of study, Supt. Mac Bernd suggested putting together a committee that would report to the board.
Trustees said they may also consider setting up a committee to study district policies, such as ones on drug and alcohol use among students. Some have been the subject of lengthy debates between parents and board members.
