Heaney, Edwards Combine to Propel Trabuco Hills

Senior quarterback Joseph Edwards threw two touchdown passes to lead Trabuco Hills to a 24-17 nonleague victory over Aliso Niguel Thursday night at Trabuco Hills.
Edwards completed 13 of 26 passes for 112 yards. Junior Brandon Heaney also had a big game for Trabuco Hills (2-2).
Heaney caught a 42-yard touchdown pass from Edwards with 7 minutes 57 seconds remaining in the game to give the Mustangs a 24-10 lead.
He caught five passes for 100 yards, kicked a 39-yard field goal in the first quarter and had two interceptions.
Aliso Niguel (1-3) was led by senior running back Nathan Eggins, who rushed for 112 yards in 20 carries.
Trailing, 24-17, Aliso Niguel had a chance to tie the score when it got the ball back on its own 48-yard line with 1:11 remaining in the game.
The Wolverines advanced the ball to the Trabuco Hills 20, but on a third-down play a pass from quarterback Jared Hill fell incomplete as time expired.
Aliso Niguel cut the lead to 24-17 on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Hill to Jason Moore with 3:18 remaining in the game.
Trabuco Hills had taken a 3-0 lead on Heaney’s 39-yard field goal with 7:20 remaining in the first quarter.
Trabuco Hills then moved ahead 10-0 when Edwards connected with Chris Lewis on a 52-yard touchdown pass with 3:14 remaining in the second quarter.
