No goat-blood-sucking beasts here--just an energetic debut from this young New Yorker, whose kitchen-sink blend of beats, guitars, violin, rapping and singing recalls Beck, Luscious Jackson and Garbage. With co-producer Mike Mangini (Digable Planets), multi-instrumentalist Coppola crafts appealingly bright, slick textures. Some shining moments (the funky, wistful “Piece”) portend better things, but right now her best feature is precociousness.
