The Times Names VP of New Business Development

The Los Angeles Times has promoted Renee LaBran to vice president of new business development. LaBran will be responsible for The Times’ electronic classified business and for shaping the newspaper’s overall new-media strategy.
LaBran will oversee The Times’ expanding set of electronic classified businesses, including: Listing Link, a real estate service; classified advertising on the latimes.com Web site; and the company’s participation in CareerPath.com, a national interactive employment service. She will play an important role in overall strategic planning issues, including new-media and classified strategies and evaluation of strategic alliances.
LaBran is currently serving as interim chief executive of CareerPath.com.
“Renee has a unique ability to develop winning business strategies,” said Robert N. Brisco, The Times’ senior vice president of classified, new media and operations.
“She has tremendous vision and has driven many important initiatives at The Times. This experience will help The Times continue to grow in these new markets.”
