Residents to Stage March Against Gang Violence
- Share via
Weary of the gang-related shootings that have plagued parts of Mar Vista in recent months, residents have organized a march for peace Sunday.
Angela Fabian, one of the organizers of the march, said she hopes 1,000 people will walk the mile-long loop beginning and ending at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church at Inglewood and Culver boulevards.
Participants are encouraged to wear white to symbolize peace.
The march will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday at 4439 Inglewood Blvd.
A similar march is scheduled for Sept. 14 in Venice’s Oakwood neighborhood, which also has experienced gang violence. Members of the two communities will attend both demonstrations, Fabian said.
