After three months of talks, the city has agreed to a three-year contract giving raises to Police Department employees.
Sworn officers and other department employees will receive raises of up to 4% during the last two years of the contract, which is retroactive to July 1.
The contract was approved Tuesday by the City Council. The Santa Ana Police Officers Assn., which represents about 545 sworn officers and other employees, already has approved the contract, officials said.
The city’s employee relations manager, Kathie Romero, said Police Department employees are guaranteed 3.5% raises during the final two years of the contract. If other city employee groups get higher raises of up to 4%, Police Department employees also would get that amount, she said.
The last time department employees received a raise was during the 1995-96 fiscal year, with a 2.5% increase.
