Council to Weigh Sun Deck Dispute
Because some residents are up in arms over one family’s plan to build an elevated sun deck that could jeopardize the privacy of others, the City Council will hear the dispute tonight.
Midori Iwanaga, who lives behind the family planning the sun deck in the 500 block of Mohawk Drive, has appealed the Planning Commission’s approval of the project at the home of David and Mary Kimball.
Iwanaga argues that the proposed deck will overlook her backyard and provide a direct view into her home.
The city also has received seven letters from other neighbors objecting to the deck.
The Kimballs propose to enclose the deck with wood lattice panels to limit views of neighboring properties.
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Council chambers, 401 E. Chapman Ave. Information: (714) 993-8231.
