Senate Panel Approves Lawyer for Judgeship

The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday unanimously approved the nomination of Los Angeles lawyer Christina Snyder to the federal bench in Los Angeles.
“Christina Snyder is one of the most respected and experienced lawyers in the Los Angeles area, and I think she will make an outstanding federal judge,” said Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who recommended her to President Clinton.
Clinton nominated Snyder on May 16, 1996. A partner in the Los Angeles law firm of Corinblit & Seltzer, her nomination must be approved by the full Senate.
Democrats have complained that the GOP-run Judiciary Committee has been too slow in passing Clinton’s judicial appointments, causing a shortage of judges in the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.
“Her confirmation . . . is long overdue and I couldn’t be happier than to know Christina Snyder is a major step closer to serving as a federal judge,” Feinstein said.
