Pepperdine Routs No. 3 Stanford

Former Royal High standout Jack Kocur scored four goals, including a two-pointer, to lead the fourth-ranked Pepperdine men’s water polo team to a 9-2 nonconference victory over third-ranked Stanford on Friday at Pepperdine.
Kocur gave the Waves (4-0) a 2-0 lead in the first quarter with a man-advantage goal and a four-meter penalty shot, and hit the two-point goal with 1:33 left in the second quarter to extend the lead to 6-0. Alan Herrmann--who finished with two goals--and Christian Jensen each scored man-advantage goals in the second quarter before Kocur’s long shot.
MEN’S CROSS-COUNTRY
Western State Conference Meet No. 1--Julio Serratos, Omar Oredain and Rafael Ramos of Glendale placed first, third and fourth to help the Vaqueros edge defending state champion Moorpark, 30-32, at Shoreline Park in Santa Barbara.
Bakersfield was third with 119 points, followed by Ventura at 128 and Santa Monica at 134.
WOMEN’S CROSS-COUNTRY
Western State Conference Meet No. 1--Cheryl Ramos and Maria Hernandez of Glendale placed third and fifth to pace the Vaqueros to victory at Shoreline Park.
Ramos ran 20:26 over the three-mile course and Hernandez clocked 20:32 to help Glendale defeat runner-up Bakersfield, 43-66.
MEN’S SOCCER
San Diego State 1, CS Northridge 0--Milton Economy, who transferred from Northridge after last season, scored on a penalty kick with two minutes remaining in the second sudden-death overtime to give the Aztecs (2-2-2) a nonconference victory at San Diego State.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
CS Northridge 2, Hawaii 0--Jennifer Barnes and Abby Beahan scored first-half goals on assists from Elizabeth Hoiby for the Matadors (1-6) in a nonconference match at home. Pam Karbowski twisted her left knee early in the first half, forcing her from the game.
Moorpark 3, Santa Barbara City 0--Nicole Haqouel broke a scoreless tie with a goal at the 7:25 mark of the first half and Britt Christiensen followed with two more for the Raiders in a Western State Conference match at Moorpark.
Glendale 2, Oxnard 0--Erin Cola scored on a breakaway in the 15th minute and Joyce Lau scored from 20 yards out on an assist by Sandra Platero in the 75th minute for the host Vaqueros (4-2, 1-1).
Pepperdine 3, San Jose State 0--Jennifer Peterson scored off for the Waves off an assist by Ashley Lewis in the 66th minute of a nonconference match at Pepperdine.
