Volunteers Sought for Youth Mentoring
Volunteers are being sought to act as “life coaches” for local teenagers.
The Life Coach program, sponsored by the city and local school districts, uses adult volunteers to work as role models for select students from Ladera Vista, Nicolas and D. Russell Parks junior high schools. It aims to keep kids off the streets, away from violent activities and focused on careers. Organizers said the program also aims to lift self-esteem of troubled youths.
The volunteers are encouraged to offer homework assistance and career information while providing nonjudgmental discussions and guidance.
