ANAHEIM — Carl’s Jr. hamburger chain operator CKE Restaurants Inc. said Wednesday it has completed its acquisition of 557 formerly franchised Hardee’s restaurants from Advantica Restaurant Group Inc.
Anaheim-based CKE paid $380.8 million and assumed $45.6 million in debt. CKE owns the North Carolina-based Hardee’s chain, but individual franchisees own 53% of the chain’s 3,039 restaurants.
The purchase of the Advantica restaurants gave CKE direct ownership of 1,420 Hardee’s facilities, or 47% of the total.
