Meetings on Bus Service Improvements Continue

The third in a series of eight public workshops will be held tonight to discuss proposed improvements to the public bus service in West Los Angeles.
Numerous changes have been recommended in a study by several area transportation agencies: using high-capacity buses with 20 extra seats to relieve overcrowding; operating a limited-stop Metro Rapid Bus on Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards; consolidating routes; introducing bus stops along the Santa Monica Freeway, and opening a transit center in Westwood.
The study was done by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, Culver City Municipal Bus Lines and Santa Monica Municipal Bus Lines, said Rochelle LeBlanc, a spokeswoman for the public relations firm coordinating the workshops.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Building, 4117 Overland Ave., Culver City.
These other hearings are scheduled:
April 7 at Westwood Presbyterian Church, 10822 Wilshire Blvd, 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
April 8 at Santa Monica Fairview Library, 2101 Ocean Park Blvd., 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
April 9 at Santa Monica Elementary Auditorium, 1022 N. Van Ness Ave. at 6:30 p.m.
