Matadors Bring Out Broom for Pomona

Carey Novits allowed four hits and one earned run over eight innings, leading Northridge to a 5-2 victory and a nonconference doubleheader sweep of Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday at Northridge.
The Matadors (23-17), who stretched their winning streak to 11 games, won the opener, 4-2.
Novits (4-2) struck out eight. Tim Bell pitched a hitless ninth inning, striking out two, to earn his second save.
Eric Horvat drove in three runs and Nakia Hill had two hits.
Jose Vasquez (6-4) struck out a season-high 12 batters in the first game, scattering eight hits and allowing no earned runs in six innings.
Kevin Patrick had three hits, including a double, and knocked in a run for Northridge in the opener.
Horvat hit a home run in the sixth inning after Pomona (11-15-1) pulled within 3-2.
