Venice Vendors

Re “Council Bans Freestyle Vendors in Venice,” April 2: The City Council doesn’t get it. What makes the boardwalk attractive to tourists and locals alike is the atmosphere of the shops and the vendors combined! Art on the street is what can make cities great. The artists add culture to Venice and an atmosphere that cannot be the same without them. One hand washes the other; it’s a shame that retailers can’t see that, and have a stronger lobby than the artists.
