Regarding identifying suspects in an ATM theft ring as “mostly Armenian” on March 30 (“ATM Theft Ring Suspect Was Star in High School”):
Unless there is an Armenia nation or Armenian-American community angle (such as stolen money going to banks in Yerevan or funding Armenian-language courses in the United States) what bearing does the ancestry of the suspects have in The Times story?
If nonessential ethnic reference is now The Times policy, I expect to see all criminal suspects given the same news story treatment (“mostly” English, Irish, Latvian, Afghan, Outer Mongolian, etc.).
