A “Take Back the Night” rally and march to educate the community about violence against women and children is set for 5 to 8 p.m. today at Mission Park in downtown Ventura.
The rally will feature several speakers, including Ventura County Supervisor Kathy Long and Hanna Beth Jackson, an assault-victim advocate. Self-defense techniques will be demonstrated.
A candlelight march through downtown Ventura will conclude the event. Mission Park is across the street from the San Buenaventura Mission in the 200 block of W. Main St. For more information, call the coalition at 654-8141.
“Take Back the Night” refers to making streets safer for women and their families, said Amy Zucchero of the Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence.
