Why Bacteria Don’t Eat Flesh
* Regarding so-called “flesh-eating bacteria,” a number of your writers, television reporters and their medical consultants, physicians (especially surgeons) and various hospital spokespersons have been greatly misinforming the public.
It is time to tell it like it is. There are no bacteria of any kind that eat flesh--period! No bacteria have teeth, a mouth, a gastrointestinal tract, etc. Some bacteria rapidly destroy flesh, but they do not eat it.
Please sign me--retired physician.
