Record Attendance Expected at Powwow

With tribal drums pounding, hundreds of Native Americans circled in a slow, rhythmic dance to form a sea of feather headdresses and begin what is believed to be the world’s largest powwow. The Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque is expected to draw 100,000 people for its two-day run, up dramatically from the roughly 1,200 who attended in 1983 when the event began.
