Devin Montgomery
School: Alemany

Year: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: After missing the first week of the season because he was playing in the football playoffs, Montgomery has helped forge a turnaround on the basketball team. Alemany, which started 0-4, has gone 4-0 since Montgomery, a Times’ All-Valley selection last season at San Fernando, joined the team.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Montgomery scored 29 points to lead Alemany to a 64-53 victory over Chatsworth in the championship game of the Valencia tournament. He scored 16 points in the fourth quarter, making 12 of 14 free throws. Montgomery, who scored 20 points in a semifinal victory against Hollywood, was selected tournament most valuable player.
Jessica Cosby
School: Cleveland
Sport: Basketball
Year: Junior
Last Season: Cosby averaged 19.8 points and 14.3 rebounds last season at Granada Hills, and she has been putting up similar numbers since transferring to Cleveland. She leads the Cavaliers in scoring, rebounding and steals, helping them to a fourth-place finish in the Eagle Rock tournament and the championship of the San Fernando tournament.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Cosby averaged 28.6 points in three games to lead Cleveland to the San Fernando tournament title. She had 31 points, 12 rebounds and five steals in an 81-46 victory over Grant in the final. She had 31 points, 10 rebounds and nine steals in a first-round game, and 24 points in the second round.
