Consumer Portfolio Services Inc.: The Irvine company, which purchases, sells and services loans originated by automobile dealers, said net income for the fourth quarter advanced 33% to $5.2 million, or 32 cents a share, from $3.9 million, or 26 cents a share, from the comparable period in 1996. Revenue increased 58% to $23.7 million from $15 million. For the year, net income rose 31% to $18.5 million, or $1.17 a share, from $14.1 million, or 93 cents a share, for 1996. Revenue grew 55% to $79.3 million from $51.2 million.
