Council OKs $2,000 Reward in Slaying of Cat

The City Council voted to approve a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people who killed and mutilated a cat, then dumped it on its owner’s front lawn.
Donald Southern awoke the morning of Jan. 29 to find the remains of his missing 2-year-old cat, Elmo, in front of his home in the 1000 block of Carol Drive, said Leah Archibald, a deputy to Councilman Paul Koretz, who proposed the reward.
The amount equals the sum of two other rewards offered by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals ($1,500) and by the Animal Guardian Society ($500), Archibald said.
