1 Killed, 1 Hurt in Ortega Highway Crash

One person was killed and another was injured in a crash on the Ortega Highway near the Riverside County line Saturday night, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The 7 p.m. crash occurred about 15 1/2 miles east of Interstate 5. One of the victims died at the scene and the other was flown by helicopter to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, authorities said.
The four-lane highway was closed in both directions for 90 minutes starting at 8:20 p.m. to clear the scene and to land the helicopter, the CHP said.
The names of the victims and the cause of the crash were not immediately available Saturday night.
