Federal Surplus

All of a sudden we have a minuscule surplus in our budget, and the politicians pat themselves on the back. We are in what has been described as the greatest economic expansion in our country’s history and it translates into a paltry $40-billion surplus. Wow!
Only 150 years to go until we pay off the $5.4-trillion national debt (assuming we boom for another 150 years and the baby boomers pass on their entitlements). This country needs to go on a serious austerity program before the next major economic downturn occurs, or else 1929 truly will be the good ol’ days.
