Gentry Gets New Chairman and New Name

IRVINE — Gentry Steel Inc. said Fred G. Jager has been named chairman. Jager, president of Geneva Corporate Finance Inc., replaces John Rud, who will remain president and chief executive.
Gentry Steel also said Michael J. Doyle, John T. Haycock and Richard R. Smith resigned as directors. A company spokesman said Gentry’s rapid development resulted in a lack of time for the three to carry out their duties as directors.
The company named Stewart A. Jackson, an independent consultant, director and principal of several public mining companies, to replace Smith. Gentry Steel does not plan to replace Doyle and Haycock. The board now has five directors.
The company also changed its name to Gentry Mineral Products Inc. to reflect the range of products made with iron oxide pigments.
