WHAT A DRAG

Oh, the fickle “Fingers in the Wind” (Pop Eye, Jan. 4). Just six months ago, k.d. lang’s “Drag” was “smart, stylish . . . going to be the kind of Grammy winner you can cheer” (“ ‘Pop’ Flops to the Top,” by Robert Hilburn, July 6). Now she’s not even an also-considered by the panel of prognosticators (or the academy voters either).

Oh, well. It’s still my album of the year, by far and away.
