A Los Angeles County fire battalion chief is recovering after crashing his vehicle Tuesday while driving to a fire in Pomona officials said.
John Mastright, 51, was not seriously injured in the crash, which occurred about 10 a.m., Pomona Police Lt. Charles Watts said.
With the truck’s siren wailing and lights flashing, Mastright tried to pass a vehicle on the east side of Reservoir Avenue, Watts said. He lost control of the vehicle and ran into a utility pole, he told police.
Mastright was hospitalized for back and neck pain but was later released, Watts said. The vehicle was totaled in the crash, Watts said.
