Lopez, Bustos, Parker in All-Star Game

Chelo Lopez, Crystal Bustos and Jennifer Parker have been selected to play in the inaugural Women’s Pro Fastpitch softball all-star game, July 14, in Akron, Ohio.
The game will be played in a Stars vs. Stripes format, with the Stars team comprised of players from the Carolina, Durham and Virginia teams and the Stripes being comprised of players from the Georgia, Orlando and Tampa Bay clubs.
Lopez, who starred for Cal State Northridge last season, Parker, who played for the Matadors in 1997, and Bustos, who was expected to lead the Matadors next season until she left school, will play for the Stripes.
Lopez, who plays for Georgia, leads the WPF with six home runs. Bustos, who played at Canyon High and Palm Beach Junior College before briefly attending Northridge, leads the circuit with 19 runs and 17 runs batted in.
Parker, an outfielder, plays for Tampa Bay.
The game will be televised by ESPN2 on July 20 at 7 p.m.

Catcher Edgar Esqueda of San Fernando High has signed with Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Alemany girls’ basketball Coach Melissa Hearlihy is directing two basketball camps at Cleveland High.
The youth camp for girls 8-13 will be held July 13-15 and the high school camp for girls 13-18 is set for July 20-22.
